On behalf of our second open call beneficiary, OpenNexus Consulting, we are pleased to invite you to the second workshop in their series, “Promoting EU ICT Standards in ASEAN,” focusing this time on the approach of standardisation for AI competences.
InDiCo-Global is a global initiative funded under Horizon Europe, the EU programme for research and innovation (Grant Agreement No. 101136022). It aims to build bridges between technical communities and policy makers on topics relating to digital policies and ICT standardisation. Through their project, OpenNexus Consulting operationalises this aim in ASEAN, bringing together senior regulators and policymakers from the ASEAN-6 economies alongside EU institutional representatives to strengthen the capacity of ASEAN governments and regulators to adopt key European ICT and AI standards.
Date: Monday, 28 September 2026
Time: 4:00 PM Singapore Time (SGT, UTC+8)
Duration: 1 hour
Platform: Microsoft Teams (virtual)
The first workshop, held in May at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, found that ASEAN and EU principles on AI governance broadly align, but that translating that alignment into practice remains a significant institutional and human capacity challenge. Workshop 2 addresses this directly, pairing the European standards perspective with a concrete national implementation case.
List of speakers:
- Ms Wanda Sabeel, member of the European Technical Committee on “ICT professionalism and Digital competences” (CEN TC428), who led the work leading to the “Agreement on AI Professional Role Profiles and Education Profiles”, will introduce the competence-framework standard underpinning AI workforce readiness in Europe.
- Assistant Secretary Celine Dee, Office for Strategic Initiatives and Industry and Competency, Department of ICT, Philippines, will share how the Philippines is translating this thinking into national workforce policy and practice.
The session will include live polling and an open discussion between speakers and participants, with outputs feeding directly into the project’s Digital Skills Alignment Guide.
