SUMMARY:From Standards to Practice: Closing ASEAN's AI Competence Gap - the EU e-Competence Framework and the Philippines' National Implementation Experience
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of one of our second open call beneficiaries\, OpenNexus Consulting\, we are pleased to invite you to the second workshop in our series\, “Promoting EU ICT Standards Adoption in ASEAN.” \nThe session forms part of a broader Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme initiative (Grant Agreement No. 101136022) under the InDiCo-Global programme. As part of their project\, Promoting EU ICT Standards Adoption in ASEAN\, the initiative brings together senior regulators and policymakers from the ASEAN-6 economies alongside EU institutional representatives to strengthen the capacity of ASEAN governments and regulators to adopt key European ICT and AI standards. \nThe first workshop of the project\, held in May at the Singapore University of Technology and Design\, found that ASEAN and EU principles on AI governance broadly align\, but that translating that alignment into practice remains a significant institutional and human capacity challenge. Workshop 2 addresses this directly\, pairing the European standards perspective with a concrete national implementation case. \nList of Speakers: \n\nMs Wanda Sabeel\, involved in the work of CEN-CENELEC TC428 and Chair of the CWA on AI Roles\, will introduce the competence-framework standard underpinning AI workforce readiness in Europe.\nAssistant Secretary Celine Dee\, Office for Strategic Initiatives and Industry and Competency\, DICT Philippines\, will share how the Philippines is translating this thinking into national workforce policy and practice.\n\nThe session will include live polling and an open discussion between speakers and participants\, with outputs feeding directly into the project’s Digital Skills Alignment Guide.
