SUMMARY:CEN and ETSI workshop on EU Digital Framework centring on the EU Identity Wallet
DESCRIPTION:Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 amending Regulation (EU) 910/2014 on electronic identities\, authentication and signatures (eIDAS 2) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union this spring 2024. This amendment established an ambitious European Digital Identity Framework including EU Digital Identity Wallets (EUDIW) which provides a means of identification across Europe. This will bring about a major transformation of security of the European digital infrastructure facilitating cross border transactions and supporting seamless access to financial\, governmental and commercial services across Europe with a high level of accountability. \nThe EUDIW now are now being implemented and tested by EU nations ready to go live by end of 2026. Also\, use of the EUDIW is already being trialled for a range of large-scale pilot applications for governmental services businesses\, banking\, vehicle registration and travel. \nCEN and ETSI have been working together with the EC in 2025 to provide an initial set of standards and specifications for implementations of the EUDIW. These standards are now being refined and extended to ensure a high level of security\, with interoperability between all national EUDIW implementations and their usage by the EU digital infrastructure. The workshop will present the set of existing standards for the EUDIW and ongoing work in refining and extending these standards. \nWho should join?\nThe workshop will be of direct interest to all those concerned with ensuring a secure digital infrastructure across Europe including regulators\, providers of mobile identity solutions\, manufacturers of secure elements / smart devices\, trust service providers\, application and secure solution providers. \nWhy attending?\nThe CEN and ETSI standards underpinning the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) will have a major impact on the European market which solution providers need to be aware of to keep up with changing environment. The workshop will provide the opportunity understand the standardisation being applied to the EUDIW and interact with the leading experts working on this standardisation.

SUMMARY:ETSI 6G Monday
DESCRIPTION:Dive into the future of technology at ETSI 6G Monday \nThis intensive technology deep-dive will explore the key aspects of 6G technologies and the related standards. ETSI 6G Monday will showcase the latest advancements in technology research whilst highlighting ongoing (pre)-standards activities in ETSI and early developments and plans in 3GPP for the upcoming Release-20. With a focus on the European 6G landscape\, the programme will examine the status of key EC-funded projects that are successfully contributing to ETSI initiatives on standards and open source. \nThe ETSI 6G Monday aims to be the perfect entry point for reviewing the European 6G landscape\, research initiatives\, and the standardization status before joining experts from the wider ecosystem for open debates on the future of 6G and its impact in the 6G FORGE event. ETSI 6G Monday precedes the 6G FORGE Event that will take place the following days (15 – 16 April 2025)\, nearby in Sophia Antipolis\, hosted by Eurecom. \nWhat to Expect at ETSI 6G Monday?\n– Insights into some key European initiatives and research projects shaping the next mobile generation\n– Overview of the fundamental 6G technologies and the key differences between 5GAdvanced and 6G\n– Open dialogue and insights on the connection between fundamental research and standards\n– Overview of new standardization initiatives and how those standards can accelerate research ideas to the marketplace\n– Perspectives on how innovators / academics / SMEs / startups can get involved in 6G standards\n– Engaging conversations between researchers\, academics\, policy makers and standards bodies on the 6G opportunity. \nRead more here

SUMMARY:ETSI / CEN Workshop on EU Digital Identity Framework Standards
DESCRIPTION:A revision to regulation 910/2014 on electronic identities\, authentication and signatures (eIDAS) is expected to be published in the Official Journal of the European Union in spring 2024. This revision establishes an ambitious European Digital Identity Framework with digital identity wallets and a number of new trust services. This will bring about a major transformation of security of the European digital infrastructure facilitating cross border transactions\, supporting seamless access to financial\, governmental and commercial services across Europe with a high level of accountability. \nETSI and CEN are working together to develop a number of standards to support this new regulatory framework building on the latest globally recognised standards for website authentication\, open identities and mobile based wallets. The workshop will present the latest status of these standards and is aimed to include demonstrations from large scale pilots applying the EU Digital Identity Wallet. \nThe Workshop is conducted by ETSI ESI Technical Committee and CEN/TC 224. \n Who should join? \nThe workshop will be of direct interest to all those concerned with ensuring a secure digital infrastructure across Europe including regulators\, providers of mobile identity solutions\, manufacturers of secure elements / smart devices\, trust service providers\, application and secure solution providers. \nWhy attending? \nThe standards CEN and ETSI underpinning this new European Digital Identity Framework will have a major impact on the European market which solution providers need to be aware of to keep up with changing environment. Also\, the workshop\, and the following open consultation on draft standards\, provides the opportunity to influence the direction taken in CEN and ETSI standards supporting the European Digital Identity Framework.
