SUMMARY:From Standards to Practice: Closing ASEAN's AI Competence Gap - the EU e-Competence Framework and the Philippines' National Implementation Experience
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of our second open call beneficiary\, OpenNexus Consulting\, we are pleased to invite you to the second workshop in their series\, “Promoting EU ICT Standards in ASEAN\,” focusing this time on the approach of standardisation for AI competences. \nInDiCo-Global is a global initiative funded under Horizon Europe\, the EU programme for research and innovation (Grant Agreement No. 101136022). It aims to build bridges between technical communities and policy makers on topics relating to digital policies and ICT standardisation. Through their project\, OpenNexus Consulting operationalises this aim in ASEAN\, bringing together senior regulators and policymakers from the ASEAN-6 economies alongside EU institutional representatives to strengthen the capacity of ASEAN governments and regulators to adopt key European ICT and AI standards. \nDate: Monday\, 28 September 2026\nTime: 4:00 PM Singapore Time (SGT\, UTC+8)\nDuration: 1 hour\nPlatform: Microsoft Teams (virtual) \nThe first workshop\, held in May at the Singapore University of Technology and Design\, found that ASEAN and EU principles on AI governance broadly align\, but that translating that alignment into practice remains a significant institutional and human capacity challenge. Workshop 2 addresses this directly\, pairing the European standards perspective with a concrete national implementation case. \nList of speakers: \n\nMs Wanda Sabeel\, member of the European Technical Committee on “ICT professionalism and Digital competences” (CEN TC428)\, who led the work leading to the “Agreement on AI Professional Role Profiles and Education Profiles”\, will introduce the competence-framework standard underpinning AI workforce readiness in Europe.\nAssistant Secretary Celine Dee\, Office for Strategic Initiatives and Industry and Competency\, Department of ICT\, Philippines\, will share how the Philippines is translating this thinking into national workforce policy and practice.\n\nThe session will include live polling and an open discussion between speakers and participants\, with outputs feeding directly into the project’s Digital Skills Alignment Guide.

SUMMARY:CEN and ETSI workshop on EU Digital Framework centring on the EU Identity Wallet
DESCRIPTION:Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 amending Regulation (EU) 910/2014 on electronic identities\, authentication and signatures (eIDAS 2) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union this spring 2024. This amendment established an ambitious European Digital Identity Framework including EU Digital Identity Wallets (EUDIW) which provides a means of identification across Europe. This will bring about a major transformation of security of the European digital infrastructure facilitating cross border transactions and supporting seamless access to financial\, governmental and commercial services across Europe with a high level of accountability. \nThe EUDIW now are now being implemented and tested by EU nations ready to go live by end of 2026. Also\, use of the EUDIW is already being trialled for a range of large-scale pilot applications for governmental services businesses\, banking\, vehicle registration and travel. \nCEN and ETSI have been working together with the EC in 2025 to provide an initial set of standards and specifications for implementations of the EUDIW. These standards are now being refined and extended to ensure a high level of security\, with interoperability between all national EUDIW implementations and their usage by the EU digital infrastructure. The workshop will present the set of existing standards for the EUDIW and ongoing work in refining and extending these standards. \nWho should join?\nThe workshop will be of direct interest to all those concerned with ensuring a secure digital infrastructure across Europe including regulators\, providers of mobile identity solutions\, manufacturers of secure elements / smart devices\, trust service providers\, application and secure solution providers. \nWhy attending?\nThe CEN and ETSI standards underpinning the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) will have a major impact on the European market which solution providers need to be aware of to keep up with changing environment. The workshop will provide the opportunity understand the standardisation being applied to the EUDIW and interact with the leading experts working on this standardisation.

SUMMARY:EU-China Workshop on E-Accessibility
DESCRIPTION:As the rapid digitisation of economic\, social\, and public life accelerates globally\, the accessibility of digital products\, services\, and hardware has become central to managing daily life and essential for human interaction. Concurrently\, demographic shifts (including an aging global population) and an increasing awareness of accessibility needs highlight the necessity for inclusive digital environments. Digital accessibility is essential for ensuring full\, equal\, and independent participation in society for persons with disabilities and functional limitations.  \nIn Europe\, this commitment is reinforced through comprehensive legislative and technical frameworks\, notably the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882) and harmonised standards such as EN 301 549 on Accessibility requirements for ICT products and services. Similarly\, China’s evolving technical standardisation and regulatory landscape increasingly aims at mandating digital inclusion\, barrier-free environments\, and user-centric technology design.   \nWithin the framework of the EU-funded InDiCo-Global project\, bridging technical communities\, standards development organisations\, and policymakers is key to advancing human-centric digital technology. As both regions navigate complex technological developments\, international cooperation and technical knowledge exchange are essential to increase awareness and drive global standards for e-accessibility.  \nPurpose of the Webinar \nThis workshop will highlight experiences from the EU and China\, two of the world’s largest economies representing distinct regulatory contexts. SUMMARY:Exchanging and Protecting Personal Data in a Globalised World
DESCRIPTION:The rapid digitisation of economic and social life has made the cross-border exchange of personal data a central element of global cooperation\, trade\, and innovation. At the same time\, repeated cases of misuse of personal data across the world – affecting both citizens and high-profile personalities – have strengthened awareness that personal data protection is a fundamental human right. In Europe\, this principle is firmly embedded in law and practice through the EU’s comprehensive data protection framework\, most prominently the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  \nThe EU data protection framework is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive regulatory models and is frequently used as a reference by policymakers and regulators worldwide. Many countries are currently developing or adapting their own legal frameworks for data protection\, often drawing inspiration from aspects of the EU model. Nevertheless\, the importance attributed to personal data protection varies across jurisdictions\, reflecting different legal traditions\, economic priorities\, and governance structures.  \nIn a globalised digital economy where data flows transcend borders\, broader cooperation and knowledge exchange are essential to ensure trusted and secure international data transfers.  \nPurpose of the Webinar \nThis webinar aims to strengthen international dialogue on personal data protection by bringing together experts and stakeholders from Europe and key partner countries to discuss the evolving global landscape of data governance.  \nThe webinar will contribute to increasing awareness of the EU personal data protection framework and its relevance for international data flows.
