SUMMARY:GDPR and Anonymisation: From Legislation to Technical Solutions and Standards Definition
DESCRIPTION:On the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the GDPR\, this webinar explores if and how data anonymisation practices have evolved to comply with the legislation. \nDrawing on speakers specialised in anonymisation techniques\, the session will examine how the industry has evolved to respond to the requirements introduced by the GDPR. Has the Regulation introduced new technical requirements and an increased demand for anonymisation tools? Has this resulted in widespread industry adoption? And which have been the most challenging aspects of the implementation process? \nThe discussion will extend to examine how the technological evolutions prompted by the GDPR have fed into new or updated standards on data anonymisation and pseudonymisation. \nFinally\, the session will engage with participants to explore potential ways forward\, and how the data anonymisation landscape may evolve in a changing sector — including in light of the widespread availability and rapid evolution of generative AI. \nAgenda & Speakers (90 minutes) \n\n\n\nWelcome and introduction — Francesco Panella\, Martel Innovate | 5 min\nFraming the webinar in the InDiCo-Global context — Xavier Piednoir\, ETSI | 10 min\nConsumer perspectives and personal data definitions — Chiara Manfredini\, BEUC | 15 min\nFrom Identifiable to Anonymous: How Technical Measures Reshape the Legal Status of Personal Data — Dr. Magdalena Góralczyk\, White Label Consultancy | 15 min\nStandards and legal perspectives on anonymisation — Frederick Richter\, German Foundation for Data Protection | 15 min\nPanel discussion: The feedback loop between technical requirements and standards — 25 min\nClosing remarks — 5 min\n\n\n\n> Watch the Recording

SUMMARY:Seminar on Human Rights and ICT Standardisation
DESCRIPTION:Organised by the European Commission\, in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)\, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). \nSupported by the EU-funded projects StandICT.eu \,INSTAR and InDiCo Global \n– \nThe seminar follows the workshop organised at WTSA-24 on “How can ICT standards ensure that human rights are upheld in the era of new and emerging technologies\, and it is one of the actions proposed in the contribution from the EU Member States and the European Commission to TSAG 2025. \nIn today’s fast-paced digital landscape\, emerging technologies are revolutionizing our world\, creating significant opportunities for innovation and societal progress\, but also raising complex challenges that impact human rights. As these technologies – including artificial intelligence\, metaverse\, and 5G/6G – become more embedded in everyday life\, it is critical to ensure that human integrity\, dignity\, and rights are upheld. \nHuman Rights are defined by regulators\, and compiled in Conventions\, Declarations and different legal texts. This workshop seeks to explore the role that ICT standards\, which are crucial on the implementation of products\, services and applications relying on the rise of new technologies\, can play to preserve human rights in a connected digital world. \nThe discussions will focus on the role of technical standards in ensuring that these technologies are developed and deployed in ways that are consistent with human rights\, including privacy\, data protection\, non-discrimination\, access to impartial information or even right to work. \nThis event highlights the importance of a multi-stakeholder approach\, bringing together diverse perspectives from governments\, international organizations\, the private sector\, civil society and standards development organizations. Collaboration among these groups is vital to ensure the understanding of what is practically needed and meant to develop safe and trustworthy standard-setting processes.

SUMMARY:EU-Indo-Pacific Digital Partnership Conference 2025
DESCRIPTION:The EU-Indo-Pacific Digital Partnership Conference 2025 will bring together policy makers\, researchers\, innovators\, and business leaders to discuss and advance the cooperation between the European Union and the Indo-Pacific countries in the field of digital technologies and their application. It supports the implementation of the Digital Partnerships between the European Union and Japan\, South Korea\, Singapore\, and the Trade and Technology Council with India. \nThe EU aims to strengthen the existing digital partnerships\, exploit synergies between them\, and establish new ones. The signing of the EU-Singapore Digital Trade Agreement (EUSDTA) on 7 May 2025 marks a milestone in the cooperation between the EU and the Indo-Pacific countries. It provides legal certainty by codifying high-level norms on data protection and source-code safeguards\, while reducing compliance frictions for small and medium-sized enterprises. By aligning European regulatory strengths with Singapore’s position as an agile digital innovator\, the partnership demonstrates that high data-protection standards can coexist with open markets and innovation\, putting forward a model for future digital trade frameworks and tech alliances.   \n\n\n\n\nEurope offers great opportunities for researchers and innovators from the Indo-Pacific. European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Funding program is one of the largest and broadest in the world and it is open for collaboration with a large number of countries. The collaboration within Horizon Europe and the next Framework Program can happen via the association of non-EU countries to the Framework Program\, as for the Republic of Korea\, Canada\, Great Britain\, New Zealand and many others\, but also in dedicated sub-programs and calls in certain domains. Moreover\, organisations from low and middle income countries are entitled to apply for funding within the scope of calls for proposals. The program funds a broad range of activities\, from research scholarships and staff exchange to large-scale collaborative innovation projects that involve industry\, end-users\, researchers\, and others. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe EU-Indo-Pacific Digital Partnership Conference 2025 will discuss core digital technologies and opportunities for collaboration between the EU and the Indo-Pacific countries on the development of technologies and their applications and technology-related regulations and policies.

WWRF Huddle 2025 will explore how 6G can deliver on the promises of ubiquitous intelligence\, sustainability\, and digital transformation. Through focused discussions on spectrum\, security\, standards\, and emerging use cases\, the event will address global priorities while highlighting regional opportunities\, particularly in Latin America. \nIn the fast-evolving mobile and wireless world\, it’s easy to focus on the technology i.e.—what’s new\, what’s next\, what’s ground-breaking. However\, there is ongoing debate within the wireless industry over the profitability and return on investment on 4G and 5G\, and what this may mean for next-generation technologies from the business perspective. Many feel that the industry is moving too fast\, resulting in reluctance to commit resources on 6G research and development. \nWWRF’s 2025 Huddle will look at how we can rehabilitate 6G R&D in a way that operators can seamlessly transition from 4G/5G to 6G while preserving their revenue potential from 5G and evolve to benefitting from 6G\, especially from the overarching visions of ubiquitous connectivity for all\, ubiquitous intelligence and sustainability as stipulated by ITU IMT-2030 framework. \nInDiCo-Global at WWRF HUDDLE 2025\nWe’re pleased to spotlight the WWRF Huddle panel\, “Global Standards Process – Role of ITU and 3GPP\,” on 23 September 2025 (13:30–14:45) in Brasília (details: https://wwrfhuddle.org/). At this session\, experts will share actionable insights on how global standards work in ITU and 3GPP are paving the path to 6G\, drawing lessons from 4G/5G on spectrum\, security\, and interoperability. They’ll also explore regional opportunities in Latin America and how international cooperation and shared frameworks can deliver scalable\, secure\, and inclusive digital ecosystems. \nWith close ties to our consortium\, ETSI is invited to contribute to the discussion\, offering perspectives on how standards work in ITU and 3GPP is shaping the pathway to 6G.

SUMMARY:Webinar 'CRA Standards Unlocked: From EN IEC 62443 to CRA: OT Cybersecurity for Important products Class I & II'
DESCRIPTION:With the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) entering into force\, the European regulatory landscape is shifting rapidly to address the cybersecurity of products with digital elements. To support this transition\, CENELEC TC65X WG3 is leading the adaptation of the internationally recognized EN IEC 62443 series into harmonized European standards (hENs) that meet the essential cybersecurity requirements of the CRA. \nThis webinar will present an in-depth look at the current and upcoming standardization activities\, with a focus on the amendment of EN IEC 62443-4-2:2019 into A11:2026\, which forms the foundation for technical security requirements in industrial and critical digital products. The work includes: \n\nAdapting existing cybersecurity requirements (CRs) and requirement enhancements (REs) to the CRA framework\nAdding or updating rationales for each requirement and enhancement\nIntroducing new REs and rationales to fill gaps based on CRA essential cybersecurity requirements\nDefining applicability criteria for all CRs and REs\nIntegrating the EN IEC TS 62443-6-2 evaluation approach\, including expected artefacts for conformity assessment\nSpecifying Security Level-based acceptance criteria for each requirement\n\nIn parallel\, EN IEC 62443-4-1:2018 is being amended to EN IEC 62443-4-1:2018/A11:2026 to strengthen alignment with the horizontal standard being currently developed under the CEN-CLC/JTC 13 WG 9 ‘Principles of Cyber Resilience’\, updating/adding requirements on the documentation of the ‘intended use’ and ‘security context’\, and the further specification/clarification of the expected development artefacts as an outcome of applying an EN IEC 62443-4-1 compliant product life cycle process. \nThese efforts will culminate in the development of six vertical standards targeting specific product categories listed in CRA Annex III—including VPNs\, routers\, SIEMs\, and firewalls—ensuring tailored\, product-relevant cybersecurity guidance. \nJoin us to gain a comprehensive understanding of how these standards are evolving\, what it means for your organization\, and how they will help meet CRA compliance through practical\, aligned\, and technically robust harmonized standards. \nSpeaker: Mr Srinath Pydi Narayana Rao.

SUMMARY:SEEBLOCKS.eu Final Event How the DEP project SEEBLOCKS.eu has impacted European Blockchain/DLT Standardisation
DESCRIPTION:Purpose & Scope\nThe SEEBLOCKS.eu final event\, will be a playground for ICT experts to showcase how the 30 month project has managed to accelerate blockchain standardisation\, through dedicated financial support to European experts working diligently in this field\, and how blockchain and DLT can serve society as relevant technology enablers. \nBlockchain\, we have seen\, is a turning-point innovation\, since it is one of the most novel horizontal IT revolutions that is affecting all industries equally. This disruptive technology\, which thanks to its adoption growth is becoming a mainstream technology\, can bring lasting benefits to societies at large.  To prevail\, it requires proper standardisation to reflect the needs of its global users that come across all continents. Moreover\, with the growth of blockchain usage\, it grows also the demand for blockchain professionals\, which directly increases the demand for blockchain skills. It’s momentous to tackle blockchain skills shortages and respond to current and future needs for the exponential demand of a blockchain workforce. \nThanks to SEEBLOCKS.eu 20 European experts were able to contribute to Blockchain/DLT Standardisation efforts\, provided blockchain insights and contributed these results in the  European Rolling Plan for ICT Standardisation. SEEBLOCKS.eu has also developed an online blockchain training course\, to be used as a sustainable service for the DLT/Blockchain community at large for learning and a freely available Standards Visualisation Tool to foster Education and Capacity in Blockchain/DLT Standardisation. \nThe event is structured such that it delves first into the regulatory aspects that influence DLT & Blockchain activities including the regulatory Acts that have come into force (AI Act\, Data Act\, European Digital Identity (EUDI)\, electronic identification\, authentication\, and trust services (eIDAS)\, EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW)\, to name a few). This will be followed by an overview of the technical contributions from SEEBLOCKS.eu experts in bringing the European view to the standardisation efforts. \nThe event will then focus on providing a voice to those twenty experts to provide the impact their funding has produced and with what lasting results and looking to what next steps are necessary to make sure the investment is long-lasting. This will be coupled with the demonstration of the utility of the Blockchain/DLT Training Course. The day will conclude with a set of SEEBLOCKS.eu prizes being awarded to those outstanding experts who have made a difference in their Blockchain /DLT endeavours. \n  \nPrincipal outputs of SEEBLOCKS.eu\n\nBlockchain Standards Visualisation Tool;\nLandscape and Gap Analysis Reports;\nStandardisation Advances from SEEBLOCKS.eu experts;\nStandardisation Policy Roadmap;\nSEEBLOCKS.eu Training Course.\n\nWho should attend?\n\nBlockchain stakeholders from national/local authorities;\nResearchers and academics working in Blockchain fields;\nICT specialists and professionals working in the Blockchain\, DLT & IT domain;\nBlockchain Hubs & Networks;\nPolicy & SDO & NSB representatives.\n\n  \nSee the agenda and read more about the event here.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Cyber Resilience Act and the horizontal standards
DESCRIPTION:The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) aims to enhance EU cybersecurity by ensuring that digital products and services remain secure throughout their lifecycle. It promotes proactive risk management and accountability\, enabling businesses and users to collaborate in building a safer digital future. To support CRA implementation\, the European Commission has issued a standardization request to the European Standardization Organizations\, focusing on both horizontal standards for a generic framework and vertical standards for specific product risks. This workshop will highlight the work on the horizontal standards required for CRA compliance. \nThe workshop will give an overview of the Cyber Resilience Act\, highlighting the key role of standardization and the way forward. The workshop will provide a comprehensive understanding of how standards can effectively mitigate risks\, enhance cybersecurity posture\, and ensure that products and services are aligned with the legal expectations set forth by the Act. \nThe workshop is an opportunity for participants to engage in discussions on two critical sets of standards that are currently under development: \nPrinciples for cyber resilience: Designing\, developing\, and producing products with digital elements in such a way that they ensure an appropriate level of cybersecurity based on the risks. Vulnerability handling for products with digital elements.
