The EU sets out its International Digital Strategy

The European Commission and the High Representative have published a joint International Digital Strategy outlining the EU’s vision for its external digital policy. The Strategy emphasises three main objectives:

  • Expanding international partnerships through existing and new Digital Partnerships, Dialogues, and a dedicated Digital Partnership Network;

  • Deploying an EU Tech Business Offer that mobilises combined public and private investments in areas such as AI Factories, secure connectivity, Digital Public Infrastructure and cybersecurity;

  • Strengthening global digital governance by promoting a rules‑based digital order consistent with EU values.

The Strategy also identifies key areas of cooperation, including secure and trusted digital infrastructure, emerging technologies (AI, 5G/6G, semiconductors, quantum), digital governance, cybersecurity, digital identities and public infrastructure, and the protection of fundamental rights on online platforms.

Relevance to Indico Global
Several elements of the EU’s Strategy reinforce Indico Global’s work under Horizon Europe. The emphasis on deepening Digital Partnerships parallels our efforts to connect European standardisation bodies (ETSI, CEN, CENELEC) with partner regions. The Tech Business Offer’s focus on cybersecurity and digital identity standards aligns with our capacity‑building workshops and open calls. Finally, the Strategy’s spotlight on AI, next‑generation connectivity and other emerging technologies mirrors Indico Global’s technical priorities and funding activities.
