The race for 6G is on, and Europe is making big moves to stay ahead. A new initiative under the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) is driving research, large-scale trials, and the development of global 6G standards to secure Europe’s position in the digital economy.
At the heart of this effort is SNS CO-OP, a project bringing together 79 research and innovation projects to coordinate Europe’s 6G ecosystem. By connecting industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers, SNS CO-OP ensures that European advancements in AI, edge computing, and non-terrestrial networks translate into real-world impact.
With major milestones ahead, such as the Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25) in Barcelona, SNS CO-OP is set to highlight how AI, edge computing, and non-terrestrial networks will shape the future of smart cities, public safety, and industrial automation. By bridging research with real-world applications, this initiative is paving the way for the commercialization of 6G by the end of the decade.
